Our Story
After a racist incident on the University of Pennsylvania's campus in the spring of 2022, four members of the community recognized the need for a shared community of support, networking, and community engagement. That summer, those members founded the Black Ivy Coalition in their hopes to formally establish a bridge between the Black community at each Ivy. The path to establishment on each campus has been challenging with the scope of the community, but we continue to push forward to serve the communities around us and uplift the students and alumni in our network.
Our Mission
The core values of the Black Ivy Coalition are unity, scholarship, and discipline. Members of BIC promote and uphold these values through participation in regular events, engagement with Black scholars across the Ivy League, and service to the Black community at large. Black erudition is of the utmost importance to our organization; as such, BIC will develop the professional and intellectual goals of its members. Most importantly, BIC hopes to highlight the shared experiences of Black Ivy League Students to create an interconnected undergraduate and alumni community.
